Israel's army called Friday for all Gaza City residents to evacuate their homes and head south of the territory "for their safety". Addressed to the 1.1 million people living in northern Gaza, the warning came as Israel amassed tanks near the border and pounded the Palestinian enclave with air strikes following a deadly Hamas militant attack on Israel.
