Watch: Chinese police violently suppress students' protest against merger plan

Chinese police violently suppressed the ongoing students' protest in the Jiangsu province. Students protested against transfer of undergraduate colleges to vocational institutions. According to local reports, students from five Chinese schools issued a joint statement. Students launched wide-spread protest after at least five independent colleges were merged. They fear it would devalue their qualifications as they prepare for a competitive job market. Videos of protest showed police taking violent action against several agitating students. In videos that surfaced online, students were seen angrily shouting slogans against the move. However, a large number of police personnel were seen violently suppressing the protest.
