For the first time, Jim Henson’s famed Creature Shop in Queens is opening its doors to the public, giving fans a rare behind-the-scenes look at the artistry behind iconic characters from “The Muppets,” “Sesame Street,” and “Fraggle Rock.” The 80-minute Saturday tours let visitors meet puppet builders, watch live puppetry demonstrations, and see legendary props and creatures up close. Founded in the 1960s, the workshop has created costumes and puppets for productions ranging from “The Dark Crystal” to “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” with artisans handcrafting every piece. Shop leaders say the tours are designed to spotlight the decades of skill and craftsmanship behind some of entertainment’s most beloved characters.
