Watch: Newborn girl found floating in wooden box in Ganga, police begin probe

A newborn girl was found in a wooden box floating in river at Dadrihhat in UP's Ghazipur. The baby was wrapped in a piece of cloth with a chit declaring her as 'daughter of Ganga’. Box carrying the infant was found by local boatman, Gullu Chaudhary, who took her home. The box also contained a picture of goddess Durga, a horoscope & incense sticks. Police said Gullu was at Dadrighat on Tuesday evening when he heard cries of the baby. Later, police got the child admitted to the district hospital. CM Yogi Adityanath took to Twitter & praised the boatman who rescued the infant. CM Adityanath added that his govt will make arrangements for the child's upbringing.
