Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca sues Utah AG over drug discount law

The U.K.-based pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca filed a lawsuit against Utah Attorney General Derek Brown and State Insurance Commissioner Jon Pike over the enforcement of a new state law that allows more pharmacies to get prescription drugs at a discount. SB69, introduced in the 2025 legislative session by State Sen. Evan Vickers, R-Cedar City, went into effect May 7. The bill bars drug manufacturers from preventing pharmacies from working with 340B entities, which allows them to get drugs at discounted rates.
