Iowa Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand held a town hall in Greenfield as a part of his 100 town hall tour. During this event, Mr. Sand said he believed the American political system was broken and consistently forced voters to pick "the lesser of two evils" each election. His remarks were followed by questions from attendees, during which Mr. Sand commented on gerrymandering and bipartisan cooperation in government, and explained the voting system he would implement if elected governor. He also discussed his Republican opponent, Zach Lahn, and stated that Mr. Lahn did not live in Iowa and would not be able to dedicate the energy needed to serve the people of the state well. Mr. Sand would face Mr. Lahn in the November 3, 2026, general election, which the nonpartisan Cook Political Report rated "Leans Democratic."
