England's deputy chief medical officer, Jonathan Van Tam, has warned the UK would have a "bumpy ride over the next few months" if the recent rise in coronavirus cases was not taken "incredibly seriously". The UK recorded nearly 3,000 new cases of Covid-19 on Monday for the second day running.
