Policeman probe for kicking Muslims praying on road in India

A police constable is being probed for allegedly kicking Muslims while they were holding up traffic praying on road in India on Friday. Footage shows the officer lashing out at the devotees while they were on their hands and knees facing Mecca and offering 'Namaz', an Islamic form of worship. Officials said the cop has been suspended over the incident on a busy road in in Delhi's Inderlok area. North Delhi DCP Manoj Kumar Meena said the officer in the video is being investigated and disciplinary action will be taken if wrongdoing is found. He added: 'An extra police presence has been deployed to the area.' Congress leader Supriya Shrinate moved to reassure Muslims that the city was accepting of their faith. He said: 'The motto of Amit Shah's Delhi Police is peace, service, justice...working diligently.' Muslims have a strict schedule for performing Namaz six times a day - often causing chaos when they carry out the ritual in public.
