Dr. Eddie Glaude Jr., a professor at Princeton University, talks to MSNBC's "Morning Joe" about the massacre of 49 worshippers in two Christchurch, New Zealand mosques Friday: <blockquote>WILLIE GEIST, MSNBC: Eddie, I wanted to talk to you about New Zealand. Because it makes us think of other attacks on places of worship here in the United States. I'm thinking about Charleston at AME church, the Baptist church in Southerland Springs, TX, and most recently the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, where people are gathered to worship, and in this case today in New Zealand on Friday prayers, the busiest day of the week inside a mosque. Killed while worshipping. EDDIE GLAUDE: You would think these are places where people go that constitute sanctuaries, where they can in some ways step away from the noise of everyday life and feel secure in their faith. And then to be subject to such horrible violence. What's interesting about this is it's not just simply anti-immigration. There’s an ideology driving this. The New York Times reported that he listed in the manifesto his white nationalist heroes, that he used guns in order to stir the Second Amendment debate here in the United States, that he is looking to us as he's engaging in this horrific act. What it reveals is that there's an epidemic of hatred and fear that’s engulfing the world. And we need to be mindful in our own rhetoric and our own actions how we’re pushing it. My heart goes out to the families. This is horrible. But it’s a sign of how dark our times are.</blockquote>
